I've used kielbasa and shredded cheese for the filling and it worked just as well. There's a lot of room for flexibility in this recipe. It's all up to your tastes. You can even cook the filling the night before. But the basic recipe is good just the way it is. (Believe me, I'm not a cream cheese person) Enjoy!
Cook the sausage. Drain. Mix the cream cheese with the sausage. Get a 9 x 13 pan (I find the glass one works best). Unroll 1 tube of crescent rolls onto the bottom of the pan. Spread the sausage/cream cheese mix on top of the crescent rolls. Unroll the other tube of crescent rolls over the top of the mix. So there should be unrolled crescent rolls on the bottom and top with the sausage and cream cheese in between. Cook as directed on the crescent roll tube.
