An easy alternative to boiling the lasagna noodles prior to making your lasagna. Make several at a time and it is a great thing to pull out of the freezer for a meal or give to friend.
Preheat oven to 375(F). In a saucepan brown ground meat. Drain excess fat. Add spaghetti sauce and 1 cup of water; bring to a boil.
In an large bowl mix together Ricotta Cheese, egg, Mozzarella Cheese, 1/3 cup water, 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, Parsley Flakes, Nutmeg, Salt and Pepper if desired.
To assemble: Use lasagna strips uncooked but rinse in hot water before layering in a 9x13 inch baking pan. Layer as follows: 1 2/3 cups hot sauce, lasagna strips, half cheese mixture, 1 2/3 cups hot sauce, lasagna strips, rest of the cheese mixture, 1 2/3 cups hot sauce, lasagna strips, remaining sauce, top with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
Bake covered with aluminum foil for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15 more minutes.
Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes to "set-up" before serving.
You may sub any kind of ground meat. Sausage works well too! I you decide to freeze be sure to thaw completely before placing in the oven and increase temperature to 400 from 375. Enjoy, this has been a recipe that my father made for many years and my whole family loves it!
