this is a bourbon sauce derivative with a hickory smoke - tangy - spicy flavor to it.
Great for bourbon chicken, and pork chops.
Option step (bake or use powder): bake garlic for roasted garlic, and squeeze out garlic. can use garlic powder instead of this step. baking garlic takes 1 hour, and keep brushing olive oil on it.
Combine ingredients in a pot to boil:
roasted garlic (or powder as above), ginger, red pepper, apple juice, light brown sugar, ketchup, cider vinegar, water, teriyaki sauce, and hickory smoked BBQ sauce.....
...and bring to medium boil until the mixture is reduced to thickness where it leaves a residue on the spoon, but still flows. do not over-reduce because when it cools it will thicken.
You can use this as a glaze, a side sauce (reduce more), or to cook with on the skillet...., or bake with it on it.. (marinade too!!!) lots of uses.
Make sure the BBQ sauce is hickory smoke BBQ sauce, so it adds a smoke flavor, and tanginess to the bourbon base recipe.
This sauce comes out very smoky, tangy, and is a bourbon sauce as you all know what it is like, so the BBQ sauce makes it smokier, a little spicier, and a little tangier too.
It really is a unique sauce, and a great one.
Hope you all enjoy it :-)
thanks to "thefoodguru" for the basic bourbon recipe.
can vary BBQ sauce to liking.
can use roasted garlic, if you have an hour to cook a garlic clove in olive oil.
