Suggest a better descriptionSift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening like pie crust. Beat egg well. Reserve 1 tablespoon of egg and 1 tablespoon milk for brushing over cookie before baking. Add milk to beaten egg and vanilla. With floured hands make into small balls. Drop on ungreased pans and then dent each cookie. Put jelly in each center. Brush with egg. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
