Crunchy ice box dills
In a clean large glass jar layer the cleaned pickles, 1 tbs dill seed (fresh if avail)
2 bay leaves
1 sliced onion
2 -3 grape leaves
1 tsp mustard seed
2 tbs whole black pepper
6 -10 cloves of garlic
1/2 tsp red pepper + takes ( or 1 hot pepper whole)
You can add whatever you want. It just need to be able to last in jar for a few weeks without going bad.
Pour cooled liquid over to fill jar.
Cover and refrigerate
Wait a couple of days before eating. These stay crunchy and great for at least 2-3 months or more. 6 months in my experience.
