Grandma's Meatloaf

Ingredients

1 1/4 pounds hamburger preferably 15% fat

12 ounces pork sausage preferably Jimmy Dean Regular sausage

1/4 cup onion, chopped fine

2 tablespoons celery, chopped fine

2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon dried sage

1/4 teaspoon dried mustard

1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning

4 slices bread, cubed

1 cup milk, warmed

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup Panko or dry breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup Ketchup

1/2 cup boiling water


Directions

Thoroughly mix meats together. Add onion, celery, and seasonings. Soak bread in milk. Add eggs and Worcestershire sauce. Beat with rotary beater until smooth. Combine meat mixture, egg mixture, and 1/2 cup of Panko. Form into 2 loaves. Roll in 1/2 cup Panko. Place in a greased shallow pan and make a well on each top. Spread ketchup in each well. Pour water around loaves. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 60 minutes. Baste with liquid in pan at 15 minute intervals. The loaves can be broiled for the last few minutes. Serve hot or cold.
