Mom's Lentils

Ingredients

1 cup Split Red Lentils rinsed

3 cups water

1 teaspoon Turmeric powder

1 medium onion chopped

3 cloves Garlic peeled and chopped

1 teaspoon Brown Mustard seed

1 teaspoon Crushed dry chillies

1 tablespoon Coconut Oil or enough to fry

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup coconut milk or cream

1 teaspoon cumin seeds


Directions

Method: 1). Into a saucepan add lentil , water and turmeric powder and cook for 15 mins until lentils are cooked. 2). Into a frying pan add oil and butter .Heat the butter. Add choped onions and garlic. Fry until onions turn golden brown. Add mustard seeds and crushed chillies Fry for a min then add the cooked lentil and coconut milk. Cook for a couple of mins. 3). Add salt and black pepper to taste and add a.talble spoon full of butter. Nish - Add cumin seeds /other spices !!!!!!!!!
