Fresh and Chunky Guacamole

Recipes »  Side Dish  »  Side Dish - Other

I get rave reviews from this everytime I take it to parties. It is very simple, fresh, and spicy.

"This was good! I love good guacamole. I used a scallion instead of the onion. Thats what I had out for another recipe. It worked great. Thanks for posting this recipe. It makes Big Oven a Better Place."

Servings
Original recipe makes 6
6 Haas avocados; very ripe, peeled and pitted
1 lime; Juice from one
1 fresh Jalapeno; chopped
1 smallwhite onion; minced
2 smallroma tomatoes; very firm, chopped
Salt; to taste
Ground black pepper; to taste
Salted tortilla or pita chips; for dipping

Fresh and Chunky Guacamole Preparation

Mash the avocados in a large, chilled serving bowl with the back of a fork. Stir in chopped vegetables and add lime juice, salt and pepper. Can be refrigerated for a few hours, but after this time it starts to get brown. Serve as soon as possible with chips. I also really like to eat this on simple tacos with just some grilled, seasoned meat and sauteed colored peppers (more like a fajita).

Serving size: about 1/3 cup

I also add cilantro and garlic. Some times a few dashes of hot sauce if the jalapeƱo isn't hot enough. Every time I as my husband what he wants for dinner he says guacamole !!

I just made this again, and I put a little cumin in it. And served with pretzel chips. It was awesome. Thanks!

Would cut this in half as it makes quite a bit and guacamole has a short lifespan, but was good.

Neat trick: leave one of the stones from the avocados in the guacamole and it doesn't go brown so quickly.

Yummy! We didn't have jalapeno pepper on hand but it was great without.
