Why spend a lot of money to feed the flocking birds? This recipe will keep them coming back for more.
Mix cornmeal with water, boil until it thickens then allow to cool. Add remainder of ingredients and pour into 9X12 pan or a few small foil pie pans.
Bake at 400F until lightly browned. About 15 minutes should do. If using pie pans allow them to cool in the pan. If in a 9X12 pan cut into squares that will fit in your suet feeder thyen allow to cool.
Freeze until ready to place out in nhe yard. They keep nicely for several months in the freezer.
We use these blocks as bait when luring birds in to photograph them. They seem to draw in birds as well as the commercial products and are a lot less expensive. Sometimes I mix a bit of cheap wild bird seed into the recipe if I have some on hand.
