| 1 tablespoonSugar |
| 2 teaspoonsSalt |
| 1 teaspoonBaking powder |
| 1 teaspoonBaking soda |
| 1 cupButtermilk |
| 1 eachEgg; large |
| 1/4 cupJalapeno peppers; optional |
Hush Puppies Preparation
In a deep pot, heat 3 inches of oil to 350 degrees.
While oil is heating, in a medium bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, baking powder & baking soda.
In another medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg & jalapeno. Fold wet mixture into dry.
Using a large spoon, drop the batter into the oil & fry in small batches until golden brown & crisp - 2-3 minutes per batch & drain.
Notes
You need roughly 4 quarts of Vegetable oil for frying.
