A hearty soup that is not only warm and comforting during the cold season, but healthy and hearty and tastes great year round!
Prepare anytime for yourself, or pre-package for having on hand in your own pantry to whip up a filling and tasty meal in about an hour!
Pre-measure ingredients into large jars for great gifts, all ingredients (excepting the option of adding any meat of your choosing if desired) are dry ingredients that are pre-measured and layer prettily in the gift jar. The ingredient measurements can be halved to create a gift for fewer servings if desired - the full recipe makes at least 8 servings by my estimate!
This recipe is designed to be prepared in advance in jars for storage or gifting, layer ingredients into Quart jar in the order listed.
•For Gift Jars, include the following instruction on a tag attached to jar.
1. In large kettle, brown 1 lb of meat (optional)
2. Remove Tri-Color Spiral Pasta, reserve
3. Add all remaing ingredients from jar with water
4. Bring to boil, then simmer for 45 minutes
5. Add reserved Tri-Color Pasta, simmer 15 minutes more
6. Enjoy!
The basic recipe is wonderful, but flavor twists can also be tried by adding a small amount of any favorite herb or spice. Just remember to start small when testing variation ideas by adding small amounts of your herb/spice of choice during final simmer! Have fun and enjoy!
