Ingredients

1 Onion; diced
1 1-lb package split peas
1 Ham bone; (with some meat left) or 2 ham hocks
2 qt Water
1 Stalk celery; diced
1 Carrot; diced
1 ts Salt
1/4 ts Pepper

Servings  

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. Remove ham bone; cut meat off, dice, and return meat to soup. Added culinary stock w herbs and white wine, 3 carrots instead of 1, a cut up bone in ham steak and used red onion. Cooked on high for 4.5 hrs. Turned out fantastic
