If you are making the pie right away (not freezing the filling in order to use later), just mix the filling ingredients and put into the crust (no need to let it stand or to cook on the stove).
Peel, core and thinly slice the apples. In a large bowl, toss with the other ingredients. Let stand for 30 minutes. Cook over medium heat till mixture begins to thicken. Pour into 1/2-gallon size freezer bags. Seal, label and freeze.
To make a pie:
Thaw a bag of filling. Heat oven to 425?. Make a 2-crust piecrust following the directions on the Crisco can. Put filling into the crust and dot with 1 Tbsp butter, cut into bits. Bake 40-50 mins till golden.

CookByMarriage 5y agoGreat recipe. We pick apples in the fall and prepare a bunch of bags of filling, labeling each bag with cooking instructions. Then it's a no brainer to pop it in the oven - or to give it away. Nothing to look up!
