This recipe is for the young bakla that is eaten whole, not the large bakla where one eats only the inside beans.
Clean and string beans and cut to 1 ?" - 2" pieces. Mix beans well with lemon juice and salt. Saut? onions and garlic in olive oil until onion is soft. Add bakla and sugar and saut? for 15-20 minutes on low heat. When bakla is starting to soften, add 1 ?-2 cups hot water; dill, mint, green onions and cook around 45 minutes until bakla is done.
