Nate Show 12/23/2012; described like a pecan pie but w/o eggs; filling looks super simple to make. Dough appears to be slightly more troublesome; "special ingredients".; has double crust - looks like could be somewhat thick. These tarts are reported to be good dessserts to make day ahead of time. LOOKS DELISH!!! WILL NEED TART PANS
CARAMEL FILLING:
TOAST WALNUTS AHEAD OF TIME
SUGAR
WATER
SALT
LIGHT CORN SYRUP
Heat and bring to boil (?) until dark color - "there" when you start to see smoke
Heat cream
ADD CREAM to caramel mixture
ADD WALNUTS and bring mixture back to a boil and pour out
Put in fridge to cool
DOUGH/CRUST
BIND EVERYTHING TO THE ALMOND PASTE IN KITCHEN AIDE
REALLY, REALLY CHILL
PRESS GENTLY INTO THE TART PAN/S; DOUBLE CRUST
HEAVY EGG WASH - TRIM EDGES - SCORE
BAKE @ 350 TO BAKE THE DOUGH - DID NOT SAY HOW LONG!!!
SERVE WITH A LIGHTLY SWEETENED CREAM - TART IS VERY SWEET
