Suggest a better descriptionHeat milk and butter in a cup in the microwave until butter is melted. Milk cannot be too hot. Place contents in mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of the flour, egg and yeast. Mix and continue adding flour and the salt until dough forms a ball and is not sicking to hands. Remove from mixing bowl and hand form to work in the flour. Cover and let prove for one hour, until double in size. Punch dough down and form dampfnudeln. Place on a floured cookie sheet. Cover. Let rise a second time (about 45-50 minutes, or until doubled in size). Heat oil and 1/4 tsp. salt in pan. Place dampfnudeln in pan, add 1 cup water, cover immediately. Turn heat to medium-high. Cook 10-15 minutes until the bottoms are crispy. Serve immediately.
