Make cream sauce from first 5 ingredients by scalding the milk, set aside. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add flour all at once. Stir for one minute. Add scalded milk slowly stirring constantly until smooth. Add in salt and pepper. Cover and set aside.
Saute the mushrooms in the dry vermouth until it evaporates. Place in a large mixing bowl.
Fry bacon until crisp and then crumble. Place into the large mixing bowl.
Mix the eggs and 1/2 cup milk together. Scramble until firm. Stir in the 2 Tbsp. of butter and mix until melted. Place into the mixing bowl. Stir the ingredients together and then stir in the cheddar cheese, finally stirring in the cream sauce. Pour into a greased glass 9" x 13" baking dish.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
