Cream butter and sugar in mixer, add eggs, vanilla, salt, flour and nuts.
Place mixture in a greased 9x13 pan.
Spread cherries and pineapple on top
Place into cold oven
Set oven temp at 300
Bake for 1 hour. Check after 30 minutes
