Combine the first six ingreds in a double boiler until well combined and sugar is dissolved. Cool, add orange zest and 1/4 cup Grand Mariner. Remove from heat. On the side whip the one cup of whipping cream until soft peaks form. Fold into the cooled sauce mixture. Refrigerate until serving time.
Grand Mariner can be added to from scatch or cake mixes of angle food cake or pound cake. 1/2 cup per recipe.
