Suggest a better descriptionSift together flour, soda and salt; set aside. Combine sugar in large mixer bowl. Add peanut butter and butter; blend until smooth and creamy. Add egg and extract' mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture just until blended. Refrigerate, covered, at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Shape dough into 1" balls. Place in unbuttered cookies sheets 1 1/2" apart. Use handle of wooden spoon to make deep indentation in center of each ball. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned and set. Cool on cookie sheets until firm enough to life. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Fill centers with cherry preserves or glaze cherries.
