Came up with this while trying to get something just right for winter cocktails that wasn't overly sweet. Its yummy with or without the alcohol. Warning: Rich and deeply chocolaty.
Combine all ingredients in a processor and blend until powdery or you can chop or grate the chocolate until it is fine and stir it into the remaining ingredients.
To use: Heat one cup of milk (or your preferred alternative) in a saucepan over medium heat until steamy. Add 3 tablespoons hot cocoa mix and whisk over heat for another couple of minutes until it begins to simmer ingredients are completely dissolved. Pour into mug and add your your favorite schnapps or spirit or topping!
Other variations:
Mexican Hot Chocolate: add chile powder, cayenne and cinnamon to the mix
Mint Hot Chocolate: Use mint extract instead of vanilla or boil with a mint leave or two
