This real fantastic. Though the flavors are a bit sophisticated, adults and kids love it. You can substitute ground beef for the lamb.
If using lamb fillet, mince or chop in a food processor.
Heat olive oil in a large frying pan to high heat. Add lamb and stir to brown all over; then add chopped garlic and spices. Continue stiring until all the juices have evaporated. Season with salt and pepper band turn mixture into a large and deep oven proof dish. Spreads level and arranged the sliced beetroot on top.
Now put cornflour in a saucepan and mix into a smooth paste with 4 tablesopons of trhe milk. Gradually stir in the remaining milk and then wisk in the sour cream until smooth. Bring to the boil, stiring all the time with a wooden spoon, then bubble, still constantly stiring, for about 3 mins. Remove from the heat and slowly stir in the lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper and pour the thick liquid over the beetroot layer in the dish and spread evenly.
Put the sliced potato in a bowl and using your hands, coat with a little olive oil and salt. Arange the potato slices on top of the sour cream sauce. bake in the center of a preheated 375 degree F. oven for 1 - 1 1/4 hours, until the potatoes are brown and soft when you insert a small knife.
Serve with a green vegetable.
