A tasty steak and mushroom dish


Ingredients

300 g sirloin beef steak; cut into bite size cubes or strips
1 medium onion; chopped
250 g green beans; topped and tailed, halved if big
250 g field mushrooms; de-stalked and sliced
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 cup beef stock
1 clove garlic; pressed
1 tablespoon Worcester sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornflour
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon parsley (optional); chopped

Preparation

Wash and chop the parsley and set it aside.

Peel and chop the onion.

Cut the end of the green beans and cut them into bite sized pieces.

Remove the stalks from the mushrooms and slice them into bite sized pieces.

Peel and press the garlic clove.

Cut the meat into bite sized cubes or strips.

Heat the olive oil in a frypan and brown the meat in it.

Remove the meat to a plate and add the butter.

Saute the onions and garlic till the onions are soft.

Add the mushrooms and saute for a few minutes.

Add the meat, stock, mustard, pepper, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and green beans and simmer.

Mix the cornflour with a drizzle of cold water until it forms a smooth paste.

Gradually stir the cornflour mix into the sauce and continue simmering till the sauce is thickened and the meat tender.
