The Crostini
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper, then arrange bread slices so they do not overlap. Drizzle liberally with the bleu olive's Wild Mushroom and Sage or Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Broil until sizzle-y brown (watch closely!). Remove from broiler and set aside.
Herbed Cream Cheese Recipe and Assembly
1. Unwrap cream cheese and place in medium sized mixing bowl.
2. Add bleu olive Italian Seasoning and Tuscan Herb Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
3. With the back of a tablespoon, blend cream cheese, seasoning, and olive oil until well blended. Don't overwork it!
To assemble-Top each crostini with a rounded teaspoon of the herbed cream cheese, then one basil leaf (shinier side up), then a piece of the piquillo pepper. For a beautiful presentation, make sure your piquillo is smaller than the basil leaf.
Tips: If not serving right away, refrigerate the herbed cream cheese until 15 or 20 minutes prior to serving, then assemble. Do not refrigerate the toasted bread, as it may become soggy. Note: You may substitute the cream cheese with a nice goat cheese.
