Excellent Vidalia Onion Pie!
Bake the empty pie shell and set aside. Cook the bacon and set it aside to cool.
Sauté the onions and butter. Remove from heat, stir in sugar, and set aside to cool.
Combine the remaining ingredients in large sauce pan and simmer over low heat until hot. Add to cooled onions. Pour into pie shell and top with crumbled bacon. Bake at 450° for 10 min. then at 300° for 20 or until crust is light brown.
