Stir-fry lamb with chilli & mint
I became fascinated with cooking almost from the time I could walk - my family was full of people who loved to cook, and loved to eat. I was cooking my own eggs by the time I was three or four (remember, safety third!).
My maternal grandmother probably did the most to encourage me in the kitchen - she was an amazing cook, and always happy to show anyone who asked how she did it.
As kids, we were always encouraged to try new things, food from different countries. Growing up in a multi-ethnic family, and in Miami Florida, where there are people (and restaurants) from all over the world, it was easy to learn to enjoy it all.

Stir-fry lamb with chilli & mintI substituted fresh basil for the mint, and like cdsheaffer, used asian chili paste instead of the chilis. I also used brown sugar instead of sugar. It was truly delicious. I haven't done a lot of cooking with fish sauce, and I loved how it brought all the other flavors together.
