Orest's Easter Aftermath Sandwich

Orest's Easter Aftermath Sandwich

The slightly sweet asparagus offsets the salty ham, and the whole thing is balanced by the pungent goat cheese and hefty rye bread. Bound to raise eyebrows, but surprisingly good. Not a "wonder bread" sandwich. Very flavorful. [I posted this recipe.]

Stewed Pears with Apricots and Cinammon

Stewed Pears with Apricots and Cinammon

Inspired by something I remotely remember seeing Jacques Pepin prepare once. No idea whether this recipe is similar to his or not. Quantities are approximate - rely on your taste and intuition to fine tune the recipe. I cook by taste, and rarely ever measure anything.

Cheese Scalloped Potatoes

Cheese Scalloped Potatoes

The taste is rather bland and not really like the standard scalloped potatoes flavor and texture that most people expect.

Cucina Rustica- Pork Roast with Fennel and Garlic

Great garlic flavor. Especially good on the grill with smoke. I would add more salt, and maybe a bit more pepper next time.

Old-Fashioned Crispy Roast Goose

Old-Fashioned Crispy Roast Goose

Skin turned out very crispy, meat was tender. Make sure your roaster pan in big enough or your oven will be a mess! Recipe itself is idiot proof.

A great way to get rid of leftover ham and noodles!

Beef Barley Stew

Beef Barley Stew

Way too much pepper and not enough salt! If I made it again, I'd go with 1 1/2 ts. pepper and add 1 1/2 ts. salt

Baked Chicken Breasts - Crockpot (To Die For!!)

Baked Chicken Breasts - Crockpot (To Die For!!)

The kids loved it, even the one who does't usually care for meat. The other one asked for just plain gravy from the crock pot after all the chicken was gone. He ate it with a spoon. For me it was good, but not spectacular. I'd cut back the sherry by about half and replace with water, I found the wine flavor just a bit over the top.
