What's for dinner?
herb bread

I love to cook.  Learned from my grandmother (who actually cooked on a wood stove until the late 1960's!, when I was in high school) and being the oldest child of two working parents, I did much of the family cooking as I was growing up.  I have a fairly large collection of cookbooks, but now tend to use the web for finding recipes to prepare

My partner  and I are RV'ers, so I have had to learn to cook in a small kitchen while on the go.  I am always on the lookout for crockpot recipes, because the crockpot is one of the greatest tools in the RV galley.

I  enjoy fall and winter, because I love to make and eat soups and breads.

I love salmon during grilling season, and shellfish anytime!

Braised Turkey Thighs

Braised Turkey Thighs

Very easy to prepare and nice flavor in the meat. I used the broth option, but will try it again with the red wine. I subbed fresh rosemary and fresh sage for the dried. I will also add some carrots next time.

Roast Chicken with Spiced Mushroom and Winter Vegetable Stuffing

Roast Chicken with Spiced Mushroom and Winter Vegetable Stuffing

I am rating this on technique and taste. I made a major change to the stuffing, but it turned out great! I subbed cooked, brown rice for the bread, and used toasted slivered almonds instead of hazelnuts. The spices were perfect and the gravy delicious! I will be making this again, and will try the bread version :)

Sugar Free Condensed Milk

Sugar Free Condensed Milk

Now I can make some of those desserts I used to make that call for condensed milk. This works great. It is a little thin when first made, but I let it sit overnight in the refrigerator and it thickened up nicely!

Starbucks Spiced Holiday Coffee

Starbucks Spiced Holiday Coffee

I have never had this at Starbucks (I don't go there), so I can't compare, but this recipe is good. I used a microwave milk frother, and topped it with some frothed milk. A nice "seasonal" drink.

Applesauce Cinnamon Muffins

Applesauce Cinnamon Muffins

I love the chewy texture the oat bran and whole-wheat flour give these, and the flavor is great. I did cut the oil and honey to 1/3 cup each with no adverse effects. Will be making these again!

Brown- And Wild-Rice Pilaf with Porcini And Parsley

Brown- And Wild-Rice Pilaf with Porcini And Parsley

This is an easy way to dress up plain brown rice. The only change I made was subbing fat-free, low sodium chicken broth for the water to cook the brown rice in. Went well with a chicken breast and buttered carrots. Will be making this again.
