What's for dinner?

My husband and I love to cook from time to time.  We are always busy working so we are looking for fast, tastey, and sometimes healthy.  I am a Realtor and my husband is a manager at a life insurance company.  So long and evening hours are common.

We love Southern foods and staying away from fried or beef is hard in Texas.  We love to ride motorcycles, hot rods, camping, diners, and fine dining too.  So now we just need to learn how to meet our food expectations by cooking at home.  Wow...that is a concept I have fought for years.  Happing eating and learning to cook.

Chicken Fried Steak

Fried Chicken

Eggs (any style)

Potato Salad

Barbecue (Pork and Beef)

My Grandmother was an excellent Deep South cook.  There was always a frying pan on the stove with some bacon grease.  She lived to be 85 but her diet in todays culture is a path to sure obesity.  So we are trying to learn to do it in a more healty sytle without sacrificing taste.

Very flavorful and tender. Who knew it could be so simple. I had my 14 year old niece make it when she visited and it introduced her to the joy of cooking. Definately give it a try.

CB's Crispy Fried Pork Chops in Cream Gravy

Very easy to make and they came out perfect the first time. The gravy was nice and creamy but does require salt and pepper to taste. Quick to cook and a great weeknight meal.

Baked Apples - Crockpot Style

Baked Apples - Crockpot Style

Make sure and use large enough apples so they do not get too soggy. The slower you cook them the better they are. Taste just like apple pie without the crust. Nice healthy snack that the family will love.
