I am a tax preparer for a small accounting office in my area.  I am also an oboe player for a local community band.  My other interests include reading, shopping, and of course cooking.
While I enjoy most types of cooking, baking is my favorite.  My husband's family has an annual "cook-off" where several family members compete against each other for bragging rights.  I'm happy to say I've won the dessert category for 4 out of the last 6 years.  I also cake decorate and have been called upon by family to make cakes for graduations, baby showers, birthdays and even my brother-in-law's wedding.

One of my greatest cooking in influences came from my grandmother, who seemed to always have baked goods of some type in her house, which was across the street from my parents' house. Her specialties were molasses crumb cake, strawberry pie, and apple tarts.  In addition to her baking, she made excellent pot roast dinners as well as great creamed cabbage and wonderful home made applesauce.  Fresh vegetables often came right from her garden and she would can pears from a tree next to her house.

Maple Mustard Glazed Pork Roast

I altered this recipe slightly to make it more suitable for my slow cooker by not adding the vegetables since the slow cooker tends to make them mushy. I cooked it on high for about 4 hours, and cooked my vegetables separately. It worked very well. — tyson 1/5/2008

I actually process the chicken and ham in a food processor, but you can also chop it by hand if you want larger chunks of meat in the casserole. [I posted this recipe.] — taxnerd 12/26/2007

Hawaiian Pork Chops

Hawaiian Pork Chops

If you wish, you can skip the skillet browing and increase the cooking time in the oven or slow cooker. The chops will take slightly longer to cook, but it will save you time in the kitchen. [I posted this recipe.] — taxnerd 12/23/2007
Chocolate Tiramisu

Chocolate Tiramisu

I use a 9" x 7" x 2.5" Pyrex storage dish with lid for this dish. Also, I use Alessi "Biscotti Savoiardi" ladyfingers. [I posted this recipe.] — taxnerd 12/23/2007
