No more waiting in line for your favorite omelet. Guests put their favorite ingredients into a ziploc bag, write their names on the bag and......13 minutes to breakfast!!!
[Note -- there is some controversy as to whether or not this is safe to do -- plastic bags may change chemically when boiling. As always, proceed at your own risk.]
gothdragon ,To clarify for those who want to look up the chemical in question in heating your food in plastic, it is called Bisphenol A (BPA). It is banned in MANY countries but of course we use it! Just a heads up for those of you who try to eat healthy. I gave a 5 Star as to not take away from the actual tastiness to the recipe. : )11y
lovelife86 ,This is a great breakfast while your on a float or camping trip! I've put them together the day/night before and kept them in our cooler. All u need is an old pot, river water and tongs! Super simple! Who doesn't love a hot breakfast in the woods!12y
kbrown04 ,Great for a group. I find they cook faster if you take them out about halfway through and quickly divide the egg up a bit with a soft spatula whole they're still sealed in the bag. It squeezes the raw egg out of the cooked part.12y
rachellew ,Really fast and easy to do. Kids thought it was so cool! Make sure to add the salt & pepper & any other spices in the bag before you cook.12y
fertom ,The eggs were wetter then we like.... I did use cream, but will skip it next time. I will also cut down on cheese so they are not as wet. Otherwise they were good.12y
mzchay ,Im not really an egg person, but when I eat eggs I fix omlettes. Im also trying to make healthier choices. So I just tried it and love it. Im definitely making this everytime I make omlettes12y
julie918 ,I made these today for Easter breakfast for my family of 6 and my inlaws and let me tell you this was a hit!!! It was simple and everyone ate at the same time and the meal was hot. I will definitely make this part of my holiday tradition and will make this again.13y
soccermomma1 ,My mother in law made these for a different Christmas morning breakfast and they were wonderful!!7713y
beckduer ,For those who are concerned about the health of cooking in a Ziplock baggie, you could use a "crock-pot liner" (the brand I use is made by Reynolds and available at Walmart). They are also called "oven bags". However, they ARE considerably more expensive.13y
oklahomasmoker ,very easy omelet, don't force all the air out of the bag this aids in cooking. I will make this again without a doubt.13y
mandylee1081 ,I don't have a large family to feed, and didn't have any guests, but LOVED these. I am not an egg master, and my omelets never look like they should. These were easy, fun, and nice that we were both able to make it the way we like it and still eat at the same time!14y
mr_d ,We have been doing this for years as we got tired of trying to fold regular omelets nicely without breaking. So far no ill effects. We like to use 3 eggs and boil for 14 minutes.. Also, about 2 minutes before finish time, i gently push the baggie against the side of the pot with the back of a spoon to squeeze out any uncooked egg. It works great. Just don't mistake the yolk for any melted cheese (I've done that). These are easy and really good!14y
