Quick and easy to make, and delicious too! These were a family tradition, when we were growing up. My maternal grandmother made them for almost every family gathering. She had to satisfy the picky and varied taste of many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as her own young children. So, to satisfy everyone's taste, her sloppy joe recipe contains no green bell pepper, no onion and no celery. It was, and still is, a hit with all the kids.
Cuisine: American-South Main Ingredient: Ground Beef
fastdog23emj ,We spooned it over baked potatoes and added a little cheese to the top. Wonderful!!![]()

mollymcfabulous ,Great recipe to start with. It didn't need the oil, I added 4x the amount of mustard, and 3x the Worcestershire and vinegar. Then, since it was so saucy, it took a long time to thicken. Next time I'm skipping the soup and adding more ketchup and also adding onions. But like I said, great recipe to start with. Pretty bland by itself though.![]()

baizillamom ,I loved this! So did my two very picky toddlers. Instead of the Worcestershire sauce and cider vinegar, I used 1 Tbsp A1 and it was perfect!![]()

mogriff1 ,Very tasty! Hubby and I enjoyed. I added green peppers, onion and a clove of garlic which I pureed in the food processor. In addition to salt and pepper I also added garlic salt and onion powder.![]()

mauraspeckt ,I made this a couple of days ago and the kids would not eat it after a few bites, they said it was too soupy. I have to agree it seemed like was a very high liquid ratio to the meat. I personally was not a fan of the apple cider vinegar AND Worcestershire, flavors were NOT good together!![]()

starlee77 ,Made for the second time. Only used 1lb of beef and added in onion and a mix of peppers. Served on buns this time, not rice. Super yummy and my picky 4 year old asked for seconds :-)![]()

starlee77 ,We all loved this. Even my super picky 4 year old. I made ours with only one pound of ground beef but kept the rest the same. Saucy and flavorful, so yummy! I'll be making it again for sure!![]()

bsisson ,Great find for our family that loved manwich but are switching to making things with the least processed ingredients. Have made twice. First time just like the instructions say and it was good but not very thick. 2nd time I added chopped bell peppers of all colors (only a 1/4 inch sliver of each) and about 1 very small carrot both very finely chopped. Kids didn't know they were eating veggies they were so small. Will use less sugar next time due to the sweetness of the peppers. But we have a winner here.![]()
