Ingredients
1/3 cup warm milk
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3-4 tablespoon water for kneading
GARLIC BUTTER:
3 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
Instructions
Whisk warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a bowl. Cover and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. The mixture should be frothy on top after 5 minutes. If not, start over with new yeast.
1/3 cup warm milk,2 teaspoons active dry yeast,1 tablespoon sugar
In a separate bowl, add 3 cups of flour, and add in salt, plain yogurt, oil, and garlic. Next, add the activated yeast mixture.
3 cups all-purpose flour,1 teaspoon salt,2 tablespoons plain yogurt,3 tablespoon vegetable oil,2 teaspoons minced garlic
Now, mix everything together and knead with water (3-4 tbsp) as required to form a soft, smooth, and elastic dough.
3-4 tablespoon water for kneading
Brush some oil on top of the dough and cover it with plastic wrap. Keep it in a warm place for at least 2 hours to rise. The dough should double in size after resting for 2 hours, if it has not doubled, allow it to continue to rise.
To make garlic butter – Mix everything under the garlic butter section in a small bowl.
3 tablespoons melted butter,2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro,2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
Remove the dough and place onto a clean, lightly floured workstation, and divide it into 8 equal dough balls.
Using a rolling pin, flatten the balls into a round shape, around ½ inch thick. Do this one at a time with each dough ball. Keep the other dough balls covered so they don’t try out.
Brush some garlic butter on top.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
Brush some oil in the air fryer basket, place the naan in the basket, one at a time, and cook for 7-8 minutes on one side or until lightly golden brown on top. Do not turn over, cooking on both sides makes the naan hard.
Brush some garlic butter on top of the naan immediately after removing it from the air fryer. Repeat with the rest of the naans.
Notes
Make sure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
Let the dough rise in a warm place for the best results.
Roll the naan to about ½ inch thick for the perfect texture.
Brush garlic butter on both sides for extra flavor and to keep it moist.
Preheat the air fryer for even cooking.
Use a rolling pin to get a uniform thickness.
