A rich, creamy, mouth-watering pasta sauce, a basic of all pasta lovers Alfredo sauce is a very traditional sauce invented in Rome by Alfredo di Lelio. It is made with two uncomplicated ingredients, butter, and Parmesan cheese.
Combine the cream and butter in a saucepan, bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes, remove from heat.
Stir in half of the Parmesan cheese, add salt and pepper to season, I like to use freshly ground white pepper.
Gently mix the warm sauce with freshly cooked pasta and serve with grated Parmesan cheese along side.
This sauce is also wonderful with lasagne or ravioli.
