Apples baked until tender in a golden, flaky crust.
In a small bowl, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture to apples and toss to combine.
Pour apples into pie shell and dot with butter. Cover with top crust, brush with milk if desired.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 425ºF. or until crust is golden and apples are tender
