Suggest a better descriptionCover potatoes with water in pot and cook until slightly tender. Let cool.
Saute butter and onion over medium. Add flour to make roux.
Add salt and milk. Cook until thickened.
Add cheese and stir until melted.
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
Preheat oven to 400.
In buttered casserole dish, layer half potatoes and top with half cheese mixture. Repeat with second layer of each.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cover with foil and bake 1 1/2 hr.
