Place all ingredients to in a large stock pot except tomato paste. Simmer on low heat 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning. If sauce too thin add tomato paste to thicken.
Optional, add cooked pork sausage, browned ground beef or turkey, mushrooms, green olives.
