2) Meanwhile, combine beef, garlic and ginger in medium bowl with half of the soy sauce and half of the mirin.
3) Heat oil in large frying pan; cook beef, in batches, stirring, until browned all over. Return beef to pan with remaining soy sauce and mirin; bring to a boil.
4) Serve beef mixture over rice; sprinkle with onion.
tip: You can use thinly sliced chicken breast fillets rather than beef in this recipe; if you do, thinly slice a large brown onion and add it to the chicken mixture before cooking.
