Suggest a better descriptionGrease a 5-6 quart slow cooker. Place bread cubes in a large bowl. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, celery, leeks and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
Add mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. Scrape into bread cubes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Transfer to slow cooker, spreading evenly. Cover and cook on Low for about 4 hours, or High for 2 hours, until heated through.
Use stale bread, or let slices sit uncovered over night on baking sheets.
Rinse leeks well.
