Scandinavian Xmas cookie scented with cardamom, fried and then coated with confectionary sugar.
Mix ingredients in order given. Roll onto floured board until very thin.Cut into one inch strips about 6 inches long. Slit center and pull one end through. Drop into deep fry until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
This dough can be very sticky, so does best with an hour chilling in refrigerator before rolling out.
This recipe has been a family favorite for over 50 years. My mother found this recipe on a TV show when I was a young girl and everyone still asks for these to be made each year. It is not Christmas without these cookies.
