Combine all salad ingredients except sunflower seeds and bacon. Combine dressing ingredients; adjust amounts of vinegar and sugar to taste. Just before serving add dressing, sunflower seeds and bacon; toss to coat with dressing. Don't add all the dressing at once as you may not need all of it.
This salad can be made without the lettuce if desied; most of the online recipes don't call for it.
