Pre-heat oven to 350
Cream sugar and butter. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix with creamed sugar. Sift and stir in flour, nutmeg and salt until uniform.
Pour into prepared pie shell. Cook for 30 minutes or until center is firm (will not jiggle). If needed, protect crust edges with foil.
