Place yams in a 4-quart slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix together brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and orange juice; spoon over yams. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 to 6 hours or until yams are tender, stirring only once. Stir in brandy and orange zest. Sprinkle the marshmallows and pecans over the top. Cover and cook 5 minutes longer, or until marshmallows are melted.
