An easy-to-make pie with candy apple chewiness in a creamy cloud.
In large mixing bowl:
-Prepare vanilla pudding with only 1 cup of milk.
-Gently mix pudding with 1/2 of non-dairy whipped topping.
-Set aside 2 tablespoons each of chopped candy bar and chopped apple
-Fold apples and remaining Snickers bits into pudding mixture
-Mound pie filling into pre-baked pie shell.
Before serving, dollop with remaining non-dairy whipped topping, sprinkle with reserved candy and apples. Drizzle caramel topping over all. Candy Bar Apple Pie can be served immediately or chilled in the refrigerator and served later. Store the leftovers, although there wont be any, in the refrigerator.
*Tip: Apples can be kept from browning if they are placed in a bowl of water with 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice . Drain apples and pat lightly with paper towels to dry before using in pie.
**Tip: Any soft nougat or caramel chocolate-covered bar can be used, such as; Mars bars, Twix, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way and Snickers (my favorite).
Preparation suggestion: Get the kids involved! After apples are cored and quartered, older kids can help chop them up using a butter knife or plastic knife. Use 24 mini, bite-sized candy bars so that no candy chopping is necessary. Have the kids unwrap the candy and stir ingredients together. Once the filling is in the shell, let them spread the whipped topping and sprinkle the apples and reserved candy on top. And lastly, let the kids drizzle the caramel sauce over the top.
I made the pie in the picture using the following ingredient brands:
Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust, baked in a 10 Pyrex deep-dish pie pan.
2 Granny Smith apples and 2 Macintosh apples
3 two ounce Snickers Candy Bars,
1 12 ounce tub of Cool Whip
1 small package Jell-O instant vanilla pudding,
1 cup whole milk
Smuckers caramel sundae syrup (in the squeeze bottle)
