1. Place ribs in foil pan and add 1/2 inch water; seal tightly with foil. Place on grill over low heat and cook for 1 1/2 hours or until ribs are very tender.
2. While the ribs are cooking, stir together remaining ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 30 minutes. Remove cover and simmer for 30 minutes more. Let cool slightly, then purée in a blender or food processor until smooth.
3. Remove ribs from pan and place directly on the grill. Cook over medium low heat for 30 minutes, turning and brushing liberally with sauce occasionally. Serve with any additional sauce.
