2. To make crumb topping, combine brown sugar and flour. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in chocolate pieces.
3. For coffeecake, combine cream cheese, sugar, and butter and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed. Blend in eggs and vanilla.
4. Combine dry ingredients and add, alternating with milk, to cream cheese mixture, mixing well after each addition.
5. Pour into greased and floured 9" × 13" baking dish. Sprinkle with crumb topping. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool and store in refrigerator.
