This was my mother's recipe. She was a dietician and would have been 100 years old this year.
Mix cornstarch, cocoa and sugar. Stir in cold milk. Add hot milk and cook in top of double boiler, stirring until thick. Cover and cook 15 minutes. Add vanilla and stir. Divide into four small glass bowls. Chill covered. Serve with milk and sugar (the old-fashioned way) or whipped cream or Cool Whip.
This recipe works using 2% milk but regular milk makes a richer pudding.
