Similar to a brownie cake because it is so dense and delicious.
Preheat oven to 350.
Prepare baking pan.
In an 8 cup batter bowl, mix together water (or coke), butter, shortening (or coconut oil), cocoa, and vanilla. Heat to boil. Stir until butter melts.
In mixing bowl, add mixture to the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt mixture.
Add buttermilk and eggs to the chocolate mixture. Mix well.
Pour into lightly greased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees 20-25 minutes.
Icing
Heat butter, coke and cocoa to boiling. Pour mixture over 1 (16 oz.) box of powdered sugar. Mix well. Add vanilla and stir.
Pour over HOT cake.
