In a medium saucepan, combine cream, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and salt.
Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly.
When the mixture begins to boil and thicken (about 10 min or so), remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla, pecans, coconut.
Cool before spreading on cake.
