Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in brown sugar and heat until sugar dissolves.
Remove pan from heat and add eggs one at a time, beating well.
Combine flour, salt, and baking powder and stir into butter-sugar mixture 1/3 at a time.
Add vanilla. Fold in pecans and chocolate chips.
Spread in greased 10" x 14" pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, making sure not to overcook.
Cut into squares.
